Who is Apple - Steve Jobs
By jeyaramd
1955 - 2011
Although Steve Jobs is no longer with us. His loss is rather unexpected. Perhaps we knew that he was ill, but acceptance has not always been easy. Steve Jobs meant different things to different people. People are entitled to their own opinions.
However, I think Steve Jobs is one the greatest innovative leaders of our time. He had great charisma and an uncanning ability to make an audience of techno geeks rise in awe. He knew how to lift a crowd. He was a crowd pleaser. He was also an inspirational leader. If you read his autobiography then you you will realize that this man went through alot. He had to go through so much to be the man he is today. Hopefully, some people don't see the success and forget about the hardships and sacrifices that went along the way.
Steve Jobs did not offer much publicity prior to the launch of his acclaimed Apple i products. He did not convince people that his products were worth their time. In his autobiography, there was a part where his staffers asked him what his marketing plan was. Steve Jobs said that we do not ask people want they want. We have to show them what they want.
Now, if thats not the determination and words of a greater thinker and leader then I don't know what is. This man had a vision. He had hope. He was a perfectionist who would not compromise. And so for Steve Jobs, naturally his products spoke for him.
When you observe his line of Apple i products from the IPod, IPhone, IPad ~ there is a noticable trend. The inclusion of the letter "i". Steve Jobs brought a great concept to the world of techno gadgets. The concept of personalization. He made products feel personal. As if they were extensions of a person's expression. Steve Jobs made converts of people who had no interest in technology and gadgets. These people could not part from their IPhones now. Thats impact. He was a truly remarkable leader.
Although its old news now; Tim Cook is the new guy appointed to the throne. I would like to shed light and gain some insight from fellow hubbers. Tim Cooks appears to know his stuff and is hard working. But, can he grab the attention of the Apple brand as Steve Jobs did?
Steve Jobs was the best thing that happened to Apple. Steve Jobs was a marketing magnet. He eluded charisma and he dressed well. Not so much like a rich baffoon in a tuxedo. But, he dressed like a charmer. He wore jeans and a simple black turtleneck. A trademark outfit.
He reached out to techno buffs and to CEOs alike. He was able to convey his messages with so many personalities. People were naturally drawn to his charismatic personality and intelligence. However, will Tim Cook be abe to carve a name for himself? Will Apple fans accept him as a super icon? Do they need a new visionary leader? I don't think so.
In fact, it would be unfair to expect these things of Tim Cook. Leader's don't always have to take on a physical form to have their influences. Steve Job's influences are all around us. Its in his products. Its in his fans. Its in his staffers. And its in his friends and family. And its in Tim Cook. His legacy will go on. Rest assured.
However, what we do expect from Tim Cook (which is fair) is to stand by his products. To ensure that quality and functionality not be compromised. Much like his leader. We hope for the same impeccable standards to be maintained and for the Apple brand to continue its legacy. And, to be frank, I think Tim Cook, on his own right, has carved a name for himself as a right hand to Steve Jobs and as a man with integrity and passion for Apple. I have high hopes for Tim Cook.
IPad 3 & IPhone 5. Here I come. Tim Cook ~ I am counting on you!
Tim Cook may not be as charismatic and energetic as Steve Jobs. But, he does have great potential. He has proven himself time around. Actually, in a number of occasions that he has the ability to be trusted with huge responsibilties. Tim Cook was the guy who took care of affairs when Steve Jobs was in the hospital for two months due to a pancreatic surgery. And the fact that he stood by Apple for over a decade is assuring and note worthy. The man knows his products and works hard. Its a tough job. No doubt. But I think Apple fans are in good hands.
Steve Jobs will truly be missed. And for all of those who miss the man behind Apple. Do not let yourself down. If anything should be learned from this man; its the fact that he overcame many obstacles in his professional and personal life. To pay tribute to the man; we should set goals and achieve them in the face of adversity; if that may be the case. The man motivated millions with his products. Why not be motivated by his personality? Lets start our engines and embark on our goals and achieve them. We all have a dream.

Great hub Jeyaramd. I'll always remember what Steve Jobs said, "Learn More and DO even More".
He earned the title of a technical magician and a visionary and he will be missed for centuries.
Thank you for your humble comments. His speeches are profound. I still watch the above youtube video when I feel like I am in the gutter.
Prasetio - Yes, its easy to appreciate him. When he touch our IPhones we are reminded of his perfection and dream. Its true that there are many smart phones now. But, its always the most challenging to innovate out side the box. He set the bar for innovation. Thank you.
